Missionary Beat: January 25, 2014

Around the web today for stories of interest to future missionaries, missionary moms, returned missionaries, member missionaries, and missionaries of every sort and variety.

  • Rabbi Jeremy Schneider “What I learned from visiting the new Mormon temple”– Temple Open Houses are teriffic missionary opportunities, and the ongoing Gilbert Arizona Temple is no different. Read what one man learned from his visit. “From the Mormons I know and have worked with over the years, I have learned about complete faith. It gives them serenity and an acceptance of adversity, which I admire. As a Jew, I am always ready to argue with God. But maybe there is a time simply to say, ‘I believe in God and I trust in God.’”
  • Joe Spencer “The Book of Mormon as the Key to the Gathering of Israel and Judah”– How does one man with a rich Jewish heritage see the Book of Mormon fulfilling the promise of the Tanach? “The witness of the Book of Mormon loudly proclaims the divinity of the Savior, and help us better understand many of the promises found in the Bible. Above all, these two tomes invite all to come unto Christ. We exclaim, with the Psalmist, ‘Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.’”
  • R. Scott Lloyd “Teaching Doctrine of Christ Is Central to Missionary Work– As so many new missionaries have flooded the world many have asked what to do with them all. Elder David F. Evans answers the question powerfully. “In accordance with instruction from President Thomas S. Monson, missionaries today are being instructed to work longer with people to help them apply all aspects of the doctrine of Christ, including enduring to the end.”
