Missionary Beat: December 1, 2013

Around the web today for stories of interest to future missionaries, missionary moms, returned missionaries, member missionaries, and missionaries of every sort and variety.

  • The theme for Youth lessons this month is “Building the Kingdom of God.” There is a lesson option on missionary work for both Young Men and Young Women

  • Deseret News “Mormon Missionaries”– Deseret News started a new Pinterest board to highlight all things missionary. It’s still pretty new, but check it out.
  • Brian Passey “LDS Art Evolves” As member missionaries, we each try to find ways to share the gospel that are personal to us. For many, the visual arts are the perfect medium to share their testimony. This article explores the huge growth in LDS artists sharing their faith through painting. “One thing that links these diverse artists is the subject matter of faith, whether depicted through images of pioneers, prophets or Christ himself. ‘I just paint what I love — the imagery I love,’ [J. Kirk] Richards says. ‘It makes me think about life. It makes me think of the state of my soul. I often equate it with prayer. Painting, for me, is like a prayer for heavenly help.'”
