“Our greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel”

Welcome to Member Missionaries! For as long as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has existed, even from the days of Jesus Christ, Himself, we have been called to preach His gospel to the world. [Read more]

The Work of Our Salvation

“The work of our salvation is hastening because of the internet.  To learn how to share the  gospel online, go to LDS Share at LDS.net.  To learn how to use social media to share from LDS.org, go to the Church’s share website.”

Getting Started

Since they were having a layover in Salt Lake City on their way to Sun Valley Ski Resort he asked if they had ever seen the Mormon Tabernacle and Temple Square? They hadn’t and then he shifted into high gear with an enthusiastic invitation to visit. He arranged for a taxi to take them.

Called to Serve

“Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day” (D&C 4:2).

Hard Questions

What are “hard questions” in Mormonism? These are usually questions relating to Mormon history deliberately framed to shake the weak testimonies of both members and investigators of the gospel. Less often, these are doctrinal questions that are difficult to answer.

Testimonies

The Love of a True Friend

“The ultimate goal of missionary work in the Church is to invite all the inhabitants of the earth to come unto Christ. Six billion people throughout the world are waiting to hear the message of the restored gospel. We are the people so blessed with the charge and responsibility to carry forth that invitation and message.”

“May we ever be courageous and prepared to stand for what we believe, and if we must stand alone in the process, may we do so courageously, strengthened by the knowledge that in reality we are never alone when we stand with our Father in Heaven.”
President Thomas S. Monson

“As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have committed to walk in the path of discipleship. We have committed to follow the example of our Savior. Imagine how the world will be blessed and transformed for good when all members of the Lord’s Church live up to their true potential—converted in the depth of their souls and committed to building the kingdom of God.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Mormons Sing a Different Song

Mormons Sing a Different Song

In order to gear up for sharing the gospel, it sometimes helps to stand outside ourselves and remember what is rocking the world around us. We live in a time where humanism largely prevails–the notion that we can lift ourselves up by our own bootstraps and accomplish...

Mormon Missionaries Baptize Munich Professor

A car with a low battery needs a jump-start.  Aren’t we much in need of the same continual renewal? It’s easy to get mission myopia, waiting for the call to come or forgetting that people are hungering for what we have. Here’s a story to help us remember. Dr. Specht,...

In the Halls of High School

In the Halls of High School

I was 15-years-old and walking down the halls of my high school in a tiny Colorado town. Other than my family, and two others, we were the only Mormons in town. It was the 70's, Donny and Marie ruled the airwaves, the hippy movement was in full force and life was a...

Revelation and its Connection to Missionary Work

Joseph Smith, Jr. said: "A person may profit by noticing the first intimation of the spirit of revelation; for instance, when you feel pure intelligence flowing into you, it may give you sudden strokes of ideas, so that by noticing it, you may find it fulfilled the...

The Modern-day Gospel Net

The Modern-day Gospel Net

Sometimes we just need to remember--remember to put what we desire to do in the front of our minds. Like sharing the gospel. At the end of the day, what really matters? That we were nice, honest, good to our children, friends and co-workers, and that we opened our...

Flooding the Earth with the Book of Mormon

Flooding the Earth with the Book of Mormon

All of us recall President Benson's challenge to flood the earth with the Book of Mormon. I remember living in Florida and buying a couple of cases of softbacks. I wondered where the Lord wanted them to go. One day, as I was driving on the freeway with my EZ-Pass, a...

Never Give Up: Some Randys Take Time

Never Give Up: Some Randys Take Time

I need my sleep but I have to remind myself that the Lord doesn't. He cares about our salvation, our thoughts, our hearts 24/7; He is constantly working behind the scenes and sometimes stage-front with everyone. I love the metaphor of the almond tree in Jeremiah,...

At the Bus Stop

At the Bus Stop

I have often wondered if the anxiety many of us feel about sharing the gospel stems from a tendency to rely more on ourselves than on the Lord. When we realize that it is His work and that He is willing to lead us in it, we can be prompted to talk to those who are...

Why Every Member a Missionary?

Why Every Member a Missionary?

Elder Richard G. Scott said, There are few things in life that bring as much joy as the joy that comes from assisting another improve his or her life. That joy is increased when those efforts help someone understand the teachings of the Savior and that person decides...
